Welcome to my website

I'm professor of English and Digital Linguistics at Chemnitz University of Technology, and I do linguistic research on a wide range of topics that I find interesting, relevant or funny. I cooperate with others to develop the software that I would like to use myself, and I communicate linguistic research to general audiences in my own podcast and on social media.

I love linguistics because it's so varied. It deals with everything related to language - and that's almost anything humans do. This means linguistics spans the whole range from creative new words and strange English spellings to the question how humans communicate with artificial intelligence and what English will be like in the future.

And yes, these are all topics I've dealt with in my own research.
